The terms and conditions have been updated (clause 8) to reflect more detail on the prize gig. When we know the dates we will update further
Promoter: Sazerac UK Limited (trading as Hi-Spirits), 60 Marina Place, Old Bridge Street, Hampton Wick KT1 4BH, United Kingdom.
1. Promotion is open to residents of the United Kingdom who are aged 18 or over and who work in a venue which stocks Southern Comfort, except employees of the Promoter or members of their immediate family, agents of either Promoter, or anyone professionally associated with this promotion.
2. Promotion Period: Submit your entry between 00:01 on 3 March 2025 and 23:59 on 30 May 2025. Any entries received outside the promotion period will not be accepted.
3. Maximum one entry per person.
4. Internet access and an email account is required. A bartender.southerncomfort-competition.co.uk account is required.
5. To participate: Go to bartender.southerncomfort-competition.co.uk and create an account with your name, email address and which bar you work at. Upload your cocktail name and recipe, including all ingredients, garnishes and serving suggestions, together with a photo of the cocktail. The cocktail must include minimum 50ml Southern Comfort and a maximum of five ingredients. See clause 7 for judging criteria.
6. We will reject any entries which, in our sole discretion:
a. are defamatory or malicious;
b. are derogatory of any class of people;
c. are reasonably likely to cause offense;
d. includes a minor without the written consent of the parent or legal guardian;
e. promote the use of drugs, tobacco or firearms;
f. contains content infringing third parties’ copyrights; or
g. contains images of any other brands in a clearly identifiable way.
7. What we are looking for (judging criteria): We will be judging the cocktail recipes on the following criteria, with an equal importance attached to each:
a. How well the cocktail showcases Southern Comfort;
b. Inventiveness of cocktail name;
c. The overall professional look and aesthetic of the cocktail from the photograph submitted; and
d. How easy the recipe is to replicate at home.
8. Prizes: One winner will win a pair of tickets to see Aitch live at an exclusive gig in the United Kingdom in 2025 plus £1,000 cash. Winner and guest must be 18 years of age or over at the time of the concert. The prize does not include transport to and from the gig or accommodation. The dates and locations for the gig are not finalised at the time of writing the terms and conditions but the Promoter in good faith believes that it will be. If the planned gig does not happen the winner will receive a different prize to the value of £250 (together with the £1,000 cash element).
9. The prize is not transferrable and cannot be exchanged for cash. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute the Prize for an alternative of equal or greater value.
10. Intellectual Property: By submitting the required photograph, you confirm that:
a. the photograph contains no copyright materials of third parties;
b. the photograph is your original work and has not been copied, in whole or in part, from any third party;
c. you have full authority to post the image; and
d. the Promoter may make your entry (photograph, ingredients, recipe, garnishes and serving suggestion) [available for use on its social media sites].
11. It is the responsibility of the entrant to provide correct, up-to-date details when entering the promotion and on acceptance of their prize. The Promoter cannot be held responsible for winners failing to supply accurate information which affects prize acceptance or delivery of their prize.
12. Participants confirm that the photo they submit contains no copyright materials of third parties, are their original works, have not been copied, in whole or in part, from any third party and the participant has full authority to post the image.
13. Winner Selection: All entries received before the end of the Promotion Period will be judged on the criteria set out in clause 7. Within 10 working days of the end of the Promotion Period, the Promoter’s independent judge will shortlist to the final 10 entries. The Promoter’s independent judge will then oversee Aitch’s judging of the final 10 to a final winner within a further 5 working days. The independent judge is a mixologist at Wet & Dry, a professional mixology agency. Wet & Dry has been engaged in its capacity as an independent expert and is not involved in the campaign in any advisory capacity. The name of the independent judge is available during the Promotion Period, upon receipt of an email addressed to southerncomfort@wearequantum.co.uk with “Independent Judge Aitch Barstaff Cocktail Competition” in the heading.
14. Winner notification and notification: The provisional winner will be notified by email using the contact details associated with the winning entry within 2 working days of the date of winner selection. The provisional winner must respond within 10 working days of the date of first notification, confirming compliance with these terms and conditions and eligibility, at which point the winner will be confirmed. Failure to comply with this timeframe, or failure to provide evidence of compliance with these terms and conditions will result in the provisional winner being disqualified and the second placed entrant will be contacted in the same manner with the same verification requirements (“reserve winner”). A reserve winner might have less time to respond. If after approaching 2 reserve winners the Promoter has failed to allocate the prize, the Promoter shall not be obliged to approach any additional reserves and shall be entitled to withdraw the prize and allocate it as the Promoter sees fit. Entrants are encouraged to monitor their email account during this time in case they are a winner.
15. Further Prize details:
a. The cash element will be paid by BACS transfer within 28 days of winner confirmation;
b. Winner will be required to provide proof of age and identity and any documentation as reasonably required by the Promoter in order to validate their eligibility to claim the prize;
c. If a winner is unable to accept the prize, no compensation or alternatives will be provided;
d. Once a booking has been confirmed no changes are permitted;
e. If a booking is cancelled no alternative prize will be issued;
f. Once the prize has been booked, neither the Promoter, nor the prize agency nor any provider of any element of the prize shall be liable for any failure to comply with its obligations caused by (but not limited to) weather conditions, fire, flood, strike, hurricane, industrial dispute, war, terrorist activity, hostilities, political unrest, riots, civil commotion, or any other circumstances beyond the control of the Promoter or travel companies; and
g. All expenses not explicitly set out in these terms and conditions will be the responsibility of the winner.
16. The Promoter reserves the right to refuse to award a prize or withdraw prize entitlement and/or refuse further participation in the promotion and disqualify the participant where there are reasonable grounds to believe there has been a breach of these Terms and Conditions, the spirit of the promotion, any instructions forming part of this promotion’s entry requirements or otherwise where a participant has gained unfair advantage in participating or won using fraudulent means.
17. It is the responsibility of the entrant to check their emails to ensure they do not miss any communications regarding the promotion. The Promoter is not responsible for an entrant missing a deadline because of any failure to check correspondence.
18. Privacy: The Promoter will only use the personal details supplied for the administration of the promotion, the auditing of the entries and the contacting of provisional winner(s) where necessary and for no other purpose unless we have your consent or unless you have opted-in to receive future marketing communications. If you are a winner we may supply your personal details to our third party fulfilment provider in order that they can deliver the prize.
19. Your personal details will at all times be kept confidential and in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018 as applicable. Your personal data as supplied during this promotion will be deleted not more than 3 months after the end of the Promotion Period (so deletion will be by or on 30 August 2025) The Promoter’s Privacy Policy is available here: https://www.hi-spirits.com/cookie-notice/. You can request access to your personal data, have any inaccuracies rectified or request deletion of personal data by sending an email to southerncomfort@wearequantum.co.uk with “rectify or deletion of personal data” in the email header. By participating in the Promotion, you agree to the use of your personal data as described here.
20. Privacy – winner details: The name, region and winning entry of the winner will be available by sending an email to southerncomfort@wearequantum.co.uk with “Southern Comfort Aitch cocktail winner” in the subject header to arrive between 1 August and 15 September 2025. Entrants can object to disclosure, or request that disclosure be limited in scope by advising the promoter when accepting their prize. We may nevertheless disclose the information to the Advertising Standards Authority if required to do so.
21. Incomplete, illegal, misdirected or late entries, or entries not in accordance with these terms and conditions will not be accepted. Proof of sending will not be accepted as proof of delivery.
22. The Promoter will not be liable for any loss (including, without limitation, indirect, special or consequential loss or loss of profits), expense or damage which is suffered or sustained in connection with this Promotion or accepting or using a Prize, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law. Nothing shall exclude the Promoter’s liability for death or personal injury as a result of its negligence.
23. The Promoter takes no responsibility for entries delayed, incomplete or lost due to technical reasons or otherwise. The Promoter is not liable for any problems associated with internet or communication networks due to traffic congestion, technical malfunction or otherwise. The Promoter will not be held liable to any individual for any fraud committed by any third party nor for any event beyond its control including, but not limited to, user error and any network, computer, hardware or software failures of any kind which may restrict, delay or prevent a participant’s entry to the promotion.
24. The Promoter is not liable for failures of any third party to perform their obligations related to the administration of this promotion or the provision of any prize element of this promotion.
25. If an act, omission, event or circumstance occurs which us beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter and which prevents the Promoter from complying with these terms and conditions the Promoter will not be liable for any failure to perform or delay in performing its obligation.
26. In the event that the promotion is not capable of running as planned for reasons including but not limited to tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, dishonesty, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of the Promoter which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Promotion, the Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process or does not comply with these Terms & Conditions and to cancel, modify or suspend the Promotion or invalidate any affected entries without any liability.
27. By taking part in this promotion all entrants will be deemed to have accepted and be bound by these terms and conditions.
28. If any of these clauses should be determined to be illegal, invalid or otherwise unenforceable then it shall be severed and deleted from these Terms and Conditions and the remaining clauses shall survive and remain in full force and effect.
29. No correspondence will be entered into.
30. These terms and conditions are governed by English law and shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales unless you live in a different area of the United Kingdom in which case your local laws will apply and your local courts will have jurisdiction.
